Seven Ways To Save Your Marriage Online Course

For as long as I can remember, I have felt connected to the Infinite Love – Power – Presence that most people call “God” and curious about this physical world that we live in.

My story starts on the south side of Chicago in a family of Croatian heritage (all four grandparents). This is St. Basil’s Catholic Church where my parents were married. We lived in my grandparents’ six-flat that was next door to the church. It was beautiful, ornate, mystical. I loved going to church – especially the music.

With the birth of my second brother, my family moved to the suburbs. My parents - smart, beautiful, and fun had lots of friends. We had a great community. I loved school and played volleyball. In our 8th grade English class, everyone had to write and give a speech. I did mine on astrology, and ever since have been integrating metaphysical knowledge with my Christian faith.

At my Catholic high school, I played the role of Maria in the Sound of Music and experienced samadhi at the final bow. (I experienced the connection of spirit to my physical body in that moment.)

At my undergraduate university, I studied Economics and French. My friends and I created a sorority that was divinely ordained (as far as I can tell) to be of service and have fun at the same time

Other parts of my journey included working at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago, moving to Minneapolis to work in sales for Proctor & Gamble, voice lessons, lots of church choirs taking healing classes with a Tibetan master, Kundalini awakening, several weeks on the psych floor of Rush Hospital, law school, attending retreats, giving retreats, dating - and not dating - until 1990 when I met the man who would become my husband.

Smart, fun, good-looking, responsible – oh my God – did I hit the jack pot! (And inside – I kept feeling like something was wrong with me and that sooner or later he’d figure it out). After dating 6 months, we got engaged.

In 1992, I graduated from law school, got married, took the bar exam, started my first job as a lawyer, and was incredibly happy. We had a great life – friends, sex, travel, work. Shortly after our marriage, we designed and built an amazing custom home on a wooded lot with the intention of having kids, entertaining, and for my husband to start his own business.

Co-creation with another - Marriage does that. It allows for new things that you can’t do on your own.

And all those things came to pass. After we finished the house, our first son was born and the business was started. (Oh no – foreshadowing of some difficult times to come.) We hosted many parties and play dates in that home. During this time, I had been working with my spiritual director, I searched for a job/career that would integrate my legal training with my faith and my skills in facilitation. She knew lots of people and I tried reaching out to local organizations like the Theosophical Society and the Institute for Noetic Sciences, but nothing felt right. I remember leaving a session with her and saying, “Okay God – then I guess I just have to do it myself.”

Shortly after that, I went to a Borders Bookstore and picked up a magazine called “Spirituality and Health.” In it was an article describing the International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers (IAHL). My people! And – as Divine order would have it – they were having their annual conference in Chicago (my hometown) that year (2000).

So, of course, I joined the group, signed up for the conference, and attended. There I met a lot of people, including Stu Webb – the man who “created” Collaborative Law. I acknowledged his contribution and expressed my interest in this new way to practice.

In 2001, Scott and I started down a path to get divorced. Our case was the first Collaborative case completed in Illinois. I took Collaborative training and have been a pioneer in this transformative way to get divorced. Concurrent with my legal practice, I have studied The Rowley Method (TRM) of Intuitively Reading and Healing in the Quantum Field. Other training includes work with the Fleming Center and the TantraNova Institute. The healing work I have done has allowed us, as divorced co-parents, to both stay intimately involved in the lives of our children and maintain a good relationship. I spend a lot of money on workshops and trainings and the freedom it has brought is PRICELESS.

From 2002 through present, my life has been dedicated to raising my children and to transforming the practice of law for families. In 2010, I founded Trainers for the Advancement of Collaborative Practice and often am called to speak to therapy groups and legal organizations. My law firm, Trinity Family Law, serves people whose relationships are in transition – people who need prenups (Positive Prenup Process), married people who want something to change (Transformative Mediation) and those who want to take an educated, respectful, and empowering approach to end their marriage (Collaborative Process and Mediation). My clients receive healing because this is just naturally what happens if they are open to what I offer.
